Mike got in touch to ask if we could make him a suit from the wool of his own flock of sheep. Yes we can! Coincidentally, my Welsh family knew of Curlew Weavers who blended Mike's wool with a softer Alpaca before handweaving it. Robert gave me a tour of the mill and explained how they produced Mike's cloth. Later on, Lewis of London made a suit for Mike's son with a Japanese Art Lining. Fraser found the wool to be slightly itchy still and we fully lined the trousers for absolute comfort.
Here's what Mike had to say about it:
"The sheep on Shire Farm play a vital role in helping maintain a self-sustaining, balanced and harmonious environment. I have always been keen to have a suit made from their wool and the opportunity for collaboration with Deborah Lewis was just what I had been looking for. Once Deborah received the fine cloth (made from a blend of the coarse wool of our Zwartbles sheep and softer alpaca) she worked closely with me to design and fit a bespoke suit that is truly unique. Deborah’s attention to detail ensured an extremely high level of personal service which resulted in a suit that is not only of the very best quality and fit, but in every respect is of more meaning to me than seems possible for another suit."
